Right before lying down, does your dog spin in a circle or two, then flop into a curl? 🐶💤 It is an old instinct from their wild ancestors. Outdoors, dogs would trample and turn to flatten grass, leaves or snow into a smooth, warm nest.
The circling also let them scan the area one last time and pick the best direction to face for safety. Even on a comfy modern bed, that habit sticks around. Usually it is completely normal. But if your dog circles a lot, seems uncomfortable, whines, or hesitates to settle, keep an eye on their joints and back, and check with a vet if needed. 🩺
