🦜 Finding feathers all over the cage floor can be scary, right? But most pet birds molt once or twice a year, usually over a few weeks, and it is completely normal.

During a molt your bird may seem tired, sing less and get a little grumpy because new feathers itch as they grow in. Add extra protein and vitamins with boiled egg, leafy greens and sprouted seeds, and keep the cage somewhere calm and draft-free. 🌿

However, if feathers fall out in patches, the skin looks red, or bald spots last for weeks, it could be parasites or stress, so see an avian vet. When does your bird molt? Any tips to help them regrow glossy feathers?
