Picture a goldfish and you probably picture a little round bowl on a desk 🐠 Sadly, that's about the hardest way for a goldfish to live.

Goldfish are big eaters, messy, and they grow faster than most people expect, so a small bowl gets dirty and low on oxygen very quickly. They do far better in a roomy tank (many keepers suggest around 20 gallons / 75 liters for the first fish) with a filter and regular water changes. Looked after properly, a goldfish can live well over 10 years – not just a few months!

Oh, and the “three-second memory” thing? Total myth 😄 Goldfish learn their feeding times, recognize the person who feeds them, and can even pick up a few simple tricks.

How big is your goldfish tank? And who's had their goldfish the longest? 💬
