🐠 Thinking about a first aquarium? Guppies come up again and again for good reason: they're hardy, peaceful, and those fan-shaped tails come in more colors than a paint chart.

A few things I wish someone had told me at the start:

✨ Males are the small, flashy ones; females are larger and plainer. Aim for one male to two or three females so the girls aren't chased around all day.
✨ Guppies are livebearers, so no eggs, just tiny free-swimming fry. Keep both sexes together and you will have babies, so plan ahead for where they'll go.
✨ They do best in a filtered tank at roughly 24–28°C (75–82°F), with some live plants for the fry to hide in.
✨ Feed small amounts once or twice a day, only what they finish in a minute or two.

They may be little, but watching a group of them drift around is ridiculously calming. 💙

Which guppy strains are you keeping? And how did you cope the first time you spotted fry in the tank?
