Is there a cozier sound than a cat purring on your lap? 😻 Here's the twist, though: purring isn't only a happy noise.

Cats purr when they're being petted, napping in a sunbeam, or nursing as tiny kittens. But plenty of cats also purr when they're anxious, in pain, or sitting on the vet's table – it seems to work as a way of soothing themselves. And then there's the famous “feed me” purr, a more urgent, insistent version that somehow always shows up right before dinner 😹

So don't just listen – look at the whole cat. Half-closed eyes and a loose, relaxed body? That's bliss. Purring while hiding, skipping meals, or holding the ears flat? That's worth a check-up.

When does your cat purr the most? Anyone living with a tiny motorbike engine? 😆
