You lock the door and the howling starts. You come home to a chewed shoe and scratch marks on the door frame. 🐶 Chances are your dog isn't being โ€œnaughtyโ€ at all โ€“ they're genuinely worried about being apart from you.

A few things that really help:
✅ Practise tiny absences: step out for a minute or two, come back, and build up slowly.
✅ Keep departures and returns low-key โ€“ no dramatic goodbyes or over-the-top reunions.
✅ A good walk or play session before you go takes the edge off.
✅ Leave a food-stuffed toy so alone time means something good.
❌ Skip the scolding when you find a mess. Your dog can't connect it to what happened hours ago; it only adds fear.

If your dog is in real panic or hurting themselves trying to get out, it's worth talking to your vet.

How does your dog cope when home alone? Any tricks that made a difference for you? 👇
