🐶💤 You know the scene: your dog is fast asleep, and suddenly the paws start paddling, the nose twitches, and out comes a muffled little “woof.” It's adorable – and completely normal.

That's REM sleep, the same deep stage where we humans dream. Your dog's brain is most likely replaying the day: chasing a ball, sniffing around on a walk, or scoring that tasty treat 😆. Puppies and senior dogs tend to twitch more than adult dogs do.

👉 One small tip: let sleeping dogs lie – literally. A dog startled awake mid-dream can be confused and may snap purely by reflex. If you really need to wake them, softly call their name from a distance instead of touching them.

⚠️ Worth knowing: if the whole body goes stiff, there's drooling or foaming, your dog can't be roused, or stays disoriented for a long while afterwards, that isn't a dream. Please have your vet take a look.

Does your dog “run” in their sleep? What do you think they're dreaming about? Tell us below! 👇
