A planted aquarium looks calm, but beginners tend to trip over the same few things 🐟 One: overfeeding - leftover food fouls the water and feeds algae. Give only what the fish finish in one or two minutes.
Two: changing 100% of the water and scrubbing the filter media - that wipes out the beneficial bacteria and shocks the fish. Swap just 20 to 30% each week. Three: adding fish the day you set the tank up - let it cycle with the filter running for two to four weeks first.
What did your very first tank hold? Any funny disaster stories from your early fishkeeping days? Share below!
