🐹 If you keep hamsters, you have probably had that mini heart attack when your tiny friend suddenly puffs up cheeks bigger than their own head. Do not worry, those are cheek pouches, a built in backpack for carrying food back to the nest. A hamster's pouches stretch surprisingly far and can hold an amazing amount compared to that little body. They will pack in seeds and dry veggies, then trot off to a favourite corner to build a food stash. Just avoid anything sticky, wet or sharp, since it can scratch the pouch lining. Now and then, clear out the older hoard so nothing goes mouldy.
